Museum Night – an event during which museums, galleries and other institutions open their doors to the public even after their regular closing time. It is therefore a unique opportunity to explore these places in the night light with a magical atmosphere and a specially prepared accompanying programme. Institutions often remain open until midnight, so one can literally experience a “Night at the Museum”.
A BIT OF HISTORY
The first Museum Night took place in 1997 in Berlin. From there, the event began to spread to other European capitals, and in 2004 it was held for the first time in the Czech Republic, in none other than Prague. A year later, the nationwide Festival of Museum Nights was established, involving dozens of towns. It reached its highest peak so far in 2017, when 178 Czech towns took part. In our “Haná metropolis”, the 8th edition is taking place this year, which you can look forward to on Friday 18 June 2021 from 18:00 until midnight, during which visitors will be able to visit 46 interesting locations including the Telegraph.
MUSEUM NIGHT AT THE TELEGRAPH
And what can you look forward to at the Telegraph? We are opening the gallery until midnight, where the exhibition Once Again, Please is currently taking place. The exhibition focuses on repetitive aspects of expression in contemporary Czech and Slovak art, in confrontation with selected works of key personalities of the second half of the 20th century. Among others, you can see works by Dita Pepe, Lubomír Typlt, Eva Kmentová, Jiří Kolář and many more. At 19:00 there will be a guided tour of the exhibition with curator Martina Mrázová.

The final item of the programme is at 20:00 — Telegraph CINEMA with a screening of the film Never Look Away, loosely inspired by the life of Gerhard Richter. Tickets can be purchased at the reception or in advance HERE.

The full programme can be found on the Olomouc Museum Night website.
