Telegraph Film Festival 2024 / TEFF24

10 10 2024

This year, the fourth annual film showcase of films about visual art, art in film, architecture and video art is united by the theme TRANSFIGURATION. Whether this term evokes Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis, the reconstruction of cities and buildings over the decades or today's frenetic, ever-changing society, this year at TEFF you will discover what all can succumb to such transfiguration. Expect film premieres, discussions, workshops, gastronomy and a rich supporting programme. The festival runs from Wednesday evening 9 October 2024 to Saturday night 12 October 2024.

The cornerstone of TEFF's dramaturgy is the films. Unsurprisingly. Like last year. Do you know which ones?

You can expect 4 feature films, 1 silent film accompanied by live music, 1 breathtaking performance and other accompanying programmes from the fields of film, architecture, art and gastro. The fourth edition of the film showcase will open with a performance entitled TRANSFIGURATION by French artist Olivier de Sagazan. Sagazan's shocking work has been shown in more than twenty-five countries and will now appear for the first time in Olomouc. And where? Right in front of the Telegraph building.
After this opening act, the festival will be inaugurated and the first screening will be a documentary portrait I'm Not Yet Who I Want to Be about the life and work of underground photographer Libuše Jarcovjáková. Thursday will belong to the Czech premiere of Monumentomania, a film about how monuments and memorials justify war, violence and crimes? How do they shape our collective consciousness and values? What has the erection of monuments ever given to humanity? These are not the only questions addressed in the philosophical documentary Monumentomania. Besides that, you can also take our own quiz this evening, tailored for art lovers! On Friday, check out the commentary on Jake Chapman's exhibition in the gallery and you'll be in for something special tonight. The quintessential film and now immortal work of German Expressionism, the silent film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari will be shown with live musical accompaniment by multi-instumentalist Mark Holan. The night's screenings will include the 1995 cult anime, Ghost in the Shell, a film about transfiguration into a cyborg. Saturday revolves around architecture! A Workshop for children and adults, and in the evening a panel discussion with urban planners on the concept of the city of the future. In the evening, there will be a preview of the documentary Architecture of the Czechoslovakia (1958-1989.

In addition to the introductions and discussions around the main screenings, look forward to guided tours of the gallery, workshops for children, top gastronomic experiences, panel discussions and a world-famous performance by French artist Olivier de Sagazan.
