7 - 10 10 2022, always from 20:00

The show opens with the wacky French comedy UNBELIEVABLE BUT TRUE. Behind it is the master of the genre Quentin Dupieux, the prolific author of several subversive comedies where reality is still mixed with fantasy. His best-known films are considered to be films like The Fly in the Trunk (2020) about a pair of maniacs training a giant fly, Reality (2014) about a director looking for the most terrifying scream for his upcoming horror movie, and also the already cult Rubber (2010) about a telepathic killer tire in the middle of the American desert. In short, every Quentin Dupieux film is a ride, so kick off the Be2Can showcase with us on Friday night, low and behold. A must for fans of French comedies.
Alain and Marie are on a house tour in a quiet suburb. A real estate agent warns them that what's hiding in the basement will turn their lives upside down. Stunned and delighted by what they discover, the couple decide to buy the property. When Alain's cheeky boss and his girlfriend join them for dinner, the temptation to share the incredible (but true!) information is strong. But Marie is determined to keep it a secret. She becomes obsessed with the cellar and can't help but venture there.

Saturday belongs to the spectacular comeback of the Italian master of blood-tinged thrillers. After a decade, Dario Argento, the author of cult and mystery thrillers that film scholars have given the genre label giallo, which means yellow in Italian, returns to direct. These films are characterised by explicit and unrelenting violence, heavily stylised cinematography and a degree of subtle eroticism. Dario Argento helped define the genre, making his return a major cinematic event and the reason why the Venice Film Festival programmers included him. He is responsible for dozens of films, the most unknown ones being Dark Red (1975) and Demons (1985).It must be said that giallo films are not for everyone, but expanding our cinematic horizons is what we are here for as a cinema and a film club! So don't be shy.
And what is the old master's new film about? BLACK GLASSES is about a deserted summertime Rome in the midst of a hypnotic solar eclipse, where a mysterious serial killer begins targeting upscale prostitutes. Diana is one of them. In a desperate attempt to escape him, she is the victim of a serious car accident that leaves her blind. After a long rehabilitation, Diana learns that the only other survivor of the crash is a child of Chinese descent named Chin, who was orphaned as a result of the accident, so she decides to take care of him. Although they come from different cultural backgrounds, the two share a special bond that enables them to defend themselves against the serial killer's desire for revenge.

Three-time Cannes Film Festival winner Cristian Mungiu is a leading figure in one of the most important cinematic movements of our time, and his best-known and most critically acclaimed films include 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days (2007) and Test of Adulthood (2016). The so-called Romanian New Wave, which Mingiu helped define, is characterized by its raw treatment of unwieldy realities in terms of slow narrative structure and distinctive stylization, while building on strong narratives where the characters crawl under your skin.
R.M.N. is the title of his new film. After leaving his job in Germany, Matthias returns to his multi-ethnic Transylvanian village a few days before Christmas. He wants to become more involved in the upbringing of his son Rudi, who has been left in the care of his mother Ana for too long, and to rid the boy of the unresolved fears that have gripped him. He cares for his father Otto and also longs to see his former lover Csilla. The hiring of a few new workers at the small factory Csilla manages shatters the peace of the community and the adults begin to be gripped by hidden fears. Through the thin veneer of apparent understanding and peace, frustrations, conflicts and passions surface.

Thirty years after his film JFK, director Oliver Stone takes viewers on a journey through the recently declassified evidence of President Kennedy's assassination - the most serious American murder mystery of the twentieth century. Along with Oscar-winning narrators Whoopi Goldberg and Donald Sutherland, and an outstanding team of medical and ballistics experts, historians and witnesses, Stone presents compelling evidence that the Kennedy case has become a "conspiracy theory" turned "conspiracy fact."

Be2Can is a selective showcase of world-class festival films from three of the world's most prestigious festivals. It aims to bring to the audience films that offer insight into current festival events and are missing from mainstream distribution. It is not limited to mere "screening", but aims at critical selection and discussion not only of the films themselves, but also of the festivals, their dramaturgy, politics and prizes. The four selected films will show you what Venice, Berlinale and Cannes have given you this year.
And the bonus? With every ticket you buy, you'll receive a voucher for a week's subscription to the Edisononline VOD service.
