1 6 2022

The Telegraph's staircase area is home to a new piece of artwork! It is a sculpture by the prominent Slovak artist Štefan Belohradský.

Stefan Belohradský (1930 - 2012) was mainly a sculptor, but also a painter and photographer. His sculptures reflect the architecture he studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava. In his work he uses materials such as stone, concrete, ceramics, dural, anti-cor and plexiglass. Many of his works are machined and accompanied by extensive technical drawings. The starting point of his work could be classified as constructivism or geometrism, but it also bears the hallmarks of op-art. He makes use of the optical and technical properties of materials, but he also engages in figurative sculpture. His work develops mainly in the 1960s and he has exhibited his works in Turin, Tehran and Paris, among others. He also participated in the 1970 Expo exhibition in Osaka. He died in 2012 in Bratislava.
