Mira Macík became the new curator of Telegraph Gallery at the beginning of October. Mira is a graduate of the Printmaking Studio of the Department of Graphic Art and Drawing at the Faculty of Arts in Ostrava (Mgr. Marek Sibinský, Ph.D, prof. Zbyněk Janáček). In 2016, he co-founded the student gallery Podlaha, which still creates an exhibition and cultural program at the Faculty of Arts in Ostrava under the guidance of the next generation of students. Since the same year, he has also been the curator of the Prostějov Contemporary Art Gallery, which in the five years of its existence has presented both student and studio projects and the work of prominent personalities of the Czech art scene. This year he also founded the Prostějov Contemporary Art Festival, whose first edition took place at the turn of September and October and presented a wide range of artistic approaches in the spaces of several cultural institutions in Prostějov.
Mira wants to include a greater number of short-term exhibition projects and events in the gallery's programme, for example in the cinema space, but also on the terraces, which have already hosted a project by Simon Szabo, whose sculptures and objects were exhibited there on the occasion of the opening of German Painting Now.
The gallery will also continue to host former Telegraph Gallery curator Jan Kudrna, who will serve as an external advisor for curatorial activities and dramaturgy of exhibition projects.
