While the sci-fi star FUTURE GATE is heading to us for the third year in a row, the award-winning BE2CAN show is returning to the Telegraph after four long years. These are not generic Hollywood blockbusters, but films that dominated the world's most prestigious festivals in Cannes, Berlin and Venice this year. You won't just come across them in regular distribution, but here you will see them in full glory and all together.
The entire festival in Telegraph will kick off with the film Red Rocks . The sun-drenched French Riviera and an innocent childhood discovery of the world that turns into the first clash with adulthood. The visually captivating film will set the bar for the festival damn high. Her Private Hell , a film by the famous Danish provocateur Nicolas Winding Refn. Hypnotic and visually captivating science fiction. Get ready for an experience that divides viewers and critics into two camps. Remembering Princess Mumbi . A thrilling Afrofuturistic romance from 2093, which even artificial intelligence could not film. A world scarred by war shows that human emotions are the last thing that AI will ever replace. BE2CAN: 9 – 11 October 2026
FUTURE GATE , the largest science fiction festival in Central Europe, has only one stop in Olomouc, at Telegraph!
Do you like sci-fi? Get ready for the event of the season, the nationwide phenomenon FUTURE GATE. A festival that prepares an immersive experience for visitors. Throughout the show, an original Star Gate installation will be on display right in front of our cinema. The festival is led by Andrej Štůla and Filip Schauer, with whom we have previously recorded a podcast . Listen to it and find out how this unique sci-fi festival came about! The festival is known for inviting huge world names in fantasy to the Czech Republic. In the past, American film director Terry Gilliam was also a guest. This year's edition pays tribute to the king of modern sci-fi himself, Denis Villeneuve, and his court editor Joe Walker. That's why you will see a selection of the most essential from the modern sci-fi genre on the Telegraph screen.
The first day belongs to short films, iShorts and Stav odapojen . We will dedicate the entire opening evening to short fantasy. First, you will soak up the best of the world scene in the iShorts block. Five visual cuts full of dystopias and chilling visions. Immediately after, we will follow up with the purely local heartthrob Stav odapojen , which was filmed by Olomouc filmmakers right on the streets of Olomouc. A low-budget punk tribute to B-movie action sci-fi films of the 80s and 90s full of cyberpunk, raw action and a nostalgic retro atmosphere. After the screening, you will also have an exclusive discussion with the filmmakers, where you will discuss filming on home sets. One day will be dedicated to the Blade Runner marathon, which also includes a discounted ticket for Replicants. With this ticket, you can come to both films on that day at the same time, and it will be worth it! We will screen Ridley Scott's legendary original Blade Runner and Denis Villeneuve's masterful sequel Blade Runner 2049 right after it. The festival will culminate with the cult sci-fi film The Incoming , followed by a lecture as part of the SCIENCE IN FILM series. The film, starring the brilliant Amy Adams, shows the first contact with an extraterrestrial civilization through the fascinating topic of linguistics in an unusually intimate and intelligent way. And what is SCIENCE IN FILM ? This series connects the silver screen with real knowledge. Immediately after the film, there will be a lecture and discussion with experts who will analyze in detail the real scientific foundations, linguistic hypotheses and technological visions depicted on the screen.

Did you think October would end? Not at all! The busy autumn at Kino Telegraph will extend into November thanks to the 6th annual Telegraph Film Festival (TEFF 2026). TEFF is our own original showcase that naturally connects the world of film with other forms of fine art. This year, the festival will carry the strong and captivating theme of Femmes Fatales. We will pay tribute to strong heroines, talented female directors and other fascinating female themes that move the world.
The festival will open with the iconic Dedemikrásky by Věra Chytilová in its anniversary year, and you will also see a freshly restored version of Věra's film Kopytem sem, kopytem tam, which premiered at this year's Karlovy Vary festival. The star guest of the festival will be Viktorie Štěpánová with her winning film Volklore, which recently received a student Oscar. You will also see the recent winner of the young filmmakers competition from the Karlovy Vary festival, the film Milovník, ne bojovník by Martina Buchelová, the cult road-movie Thelma and Louise, and the raw documentary by Czech director Pepa Lubojacki, which won an award at the Berlinale and will compete for the Czech Republic for an Oscar.
TEFF is far from just about spending time in a darkened hall! A packed accompanying program awaits you as part of the festival. You can look forward to a guided tour and video art by world-renowned sculptor Anna Uddenberg, a fascinating lecture on Comics as Direction by author BERRY26, and we are preparing a creative workshop for children so that everyone, from the oldest to the youngest, can have their own fun.
