Who doesn't know Czech feminist film icon Věra Chytilová and her famous film DAISIES, which premiered 60 years ago this year! The film is about two young women, Marie I and Marie II, who decide to be spoiled because the world around them is like that too. And so they start looking for any kind of fun. Together, they mess with several elderly gentlemen, who then make them pay for a large expense and finally put them on a train. They rob a toilet attendant, they play with a young man in love... But all this is not enough for them, because they want to be even more spoiled. And they also realize that the people around them are not paying attention to them. One day, they get to a luxury hotel, where an opulent banquet is being prepared in the hall. This is just the right opportunity to let loose.
With artistically dazzling playfulness, Věra Chytilová shows the power of women that breaks conventions and established rules of the game. The presentation of this timeless visual poem in a precisely restored version is an ideal, radical and celebratory entry into this year's edition.
