Radu Băies explores the human being and his role in relation to the whole. It asks systematic questions about the origin and direction of man as such. Man in his world is part of an unidealised landscape, which is not a mere backdrop, but rather an integral part of it. Fundamental is the general presence of man in his paintings themselves. In a part of Radu Baies' paintings, man is not directly physically present, but his scale and traces of systematic activity perfectly substitute him in the result, thus indirectly referring to the existential content of this remarkable representative of the contemporary Cluj school of painting. Radu's residency culminated in a solo exhibition, Searching For My Human Traces, mapping the fundamental pillars of his work.
