August: what does the gallery do?

31 7 2025 | Author: Barbora Pacíková

What's coming up in August at the Telegraph Gallery?

If you visit the Telegraph Gallery regularly, you will know that our programme goes beyond the gallery space. In addition to the long-term exhibitions, there are pop-up exhibitions in the cinema and loft throughout the year, as well as residencies by Czech and international artists, always ending with an Open Studio in their studio. You can also look forward to lecture series focusing on the work of contemporary artists, the work of curators, and on the collecting of contemporary art with collectors, gallerists and curators.

Srpen may seem quiet. It's as if the gallery lights went out, locked up and everyone went to the quarry to gather inspiration among the rocks. But as it happens, appearances are deceiving. While from the outside it looks like a pause, inside it is busily preparing: accompanying programs, podcasts, guests, themes. August is backstage month - and it's alive in there!

17 7 - 23 10 2025 / I Wish I Was Made of Stone: Lucia Tallová

No need to panic. The gallery is open, and it currently belongs to the works of Slovak artist Lucia Tallová, who works with objects, their memories and memory in her work. Thanks to her sensitive authorial approach, the artist is able to discover and develop remarkable relationships between shapes, materials and her own artistic interpretation. The result of her work is a body of work that acts as a personal archaeological exploration from which subtle, multi-layered compositions emerge. These pose questions and leave room for silent answers.

13 8 2025 / 18:00 / Collecting Contemporary Art: Tomáš Umrian

Make sure not to miss the accompanying programme to the aforementioned exhibition by Lucie Tallová. This is another lecture from the series Collectors of Contemporary Art, this time with gallerist Tomas Umrian, who is also the founder of Tomas Umrian Contemporary gallery, active since 2014 on the Slovak and international scene. As a curator and gallerist, Tomas Umrian focuses on long-term collaborations with artists, conceptually strong projects and the promotion of work that reflects social, historical and philosophical contexts. Among the gallery's key artists is Lucia Tallová, who has successfully established herself on the international scene, including participation in the Lyon Biennale and inclusion in prestigious collections.

Exhibition open, air conditioning blasting. We look forward to seeing you!
