From January we are introducing a new regular film format: now you have the chance to see two films every Monday - the first screening at 17:30, the second at 20:00. In addition, one of the Monday titles is always screened as part of the Film Club, so you can look forward to distinctive films that open up space for thought and debate, or just resonate with the world of film. January thus offers the perfect opportunity to make Mondays a solid cultural ritual. We've got a great hall, plenty of seats and films that need to be screened. Don't worry, our film club is not an elitist group! It only offers discounts for true movie fans who frequent the cinema. Again this year, screenings marked with the letters FK (Film Club) in the program will get a discount on admission if you have a current ACFC (Association of No Film Clubs) or ARTER (Young Audience Club) card. And students, disabled and seniors can even combine discounts..!

We're kicking off the movie year in style and strong on January 5. At 5:30 p.m., we'll show Nepela, a biographical drama about a legendary figure skater whose sporting fame is intertwined with personal dilemmas and the pressures of the times. Josef Trojan has bravely taken on the role of the famous figure skater and deserves our attention. At 20:00, Island of Amrum by our favourite German director Fatih Akin follows, bringing a sensitive and atmospheric film that draws the audience into an intimate story of the search for identity and home. Monday cinema can offer a truly quality experience, whether you come for the FK or just for the fun of it. That's what we pride ourselves on. The second week of January brings the first whiff of Nordic cinema, with the arrival of Norwegian drama Dreams, as well as Joachim Trier's highly anticipated drama, which was the focus of this year's Cannes Film Festival - the star-studded Emotional Value!

The highlight of January's programme comes from 14-16 January, when KINO SCANDI - a showcase of contemporary Nordic film - takes over the cinema. Audiences can look forward to a selection of distinctive titles from Scandinavia, characterised by strong emotions, civil acting and authentic stories. The programme includes films such as Sharp Emotions, the Finnish comedy series Grumpy, the Norwegian drama Don't Call Me Mum, To New Beginnings, Let It Rain and the comedy The Last Viking starring Mads Mikkelsen. KINO SCANDI is the perfect opportunity to discover films you won't see anywhere else - and experience the North in all its raw beauty. This year's selection is packed to the ceiling.

Film Month will conclude on January 23 with a family-friendly title in the children's series, Daddy: Grandma's Tales. Again this year, enjoy great movies for young audiences on select Saturdays after lunch. January closes with an unlikely but purely quality pair of films. At 5:30pm we offer the Slovak art film Perla in the FK and at 8pm we present the historical drama full of Hollywood stars, the film Nuremberg. January thus brings a varied, thoughtful and enticing film offer - and a clear message: Mondays are no longer just the start of the week, but an evening for film.
