Signal IV
The Eighties

gallery exhibition art

Signál IV is already the fourth exhibition in a row that unveils another part of Robert Runták's Collection, this time focusing on a selection of artworks from the 1980s.

The exhibition presents the generation of artists from the 1980s in confrontation with their mentors, who worked outside the educational institutions and, through their work, influenced this emerging generation. The most interesting aspects of the contemporary art scene did not take place officially but in private, away from the scrutiny of evaluation committees that were supposed to guarantee adherence to ideological and artistic values or censor artworks before their public presentation.

At the Telegraph Gallery, visitors are invited to view a representative selection of the unofficial art movement of the 1980s, featuring works collected at least two decades after their creation. This time interval provided a significant advantage for the collector, and it is incredible that the collection not only offers a subjective perspective but also a comprehensive statement about the artistic approaches of the 1980s, which this exhibition aims to bring closer to the public.
