February 2024. What are we up to?

If you visit the Telegraph Gallery regularly, you will know that its programme extends beyond the gallery space on the 1st floor of the Telegraph building. In addition to exhibitions in the gallery, throughout the year you can look forward to pop-up exhibitions in the cinema and loft, residencies by Czech and international artists always ending with an Open Studio in the studio, lecture series on the work of contemporary artists and the work of curators, and talks on contemporary art collecting with collectors, gallerists and curators.

This month we have three exciting events, two of which are directly related to the current exhibition Connected.

Tue 6 2 2024 / 18:00 Artist Presentation: Jan Hísek

Are you interested in the work of contemporary artists and the work of curators? If you'd like to take a peek behind the scenes of the art world and hear about visual art from the artists themselves, the lecture series Presentation is the perfect choice.

In the second presentation this year among artists and curators, Jan Hísek will present his work. In addition to the presentation, his work can be seen in the current exhibition Connected at the Telegraph Gallery.

Thu 15 Feb 2024 / 6:00pm Connections: Guided Tour

One Exhibition. Fifteen artists. A myriad of works.

The exhibition Connected is the embodiment of an original project by curator Terezie Zemánková in collaboration with curator Anežka Šimková, Telegraph Gallery's chief curator Miro Macík and exhibition architect Mark Ther. It maps the work of artists beyond the material reality, following the theme of automatic drawing that accompanies all the artists in their distinctive means of expression. At the centre of the exhibition are the works of Karel Malich, a key figure in Czech post-war art. However, his work is not the only attraction to visit the exhibition. You can enjoy the work of Anna Šimkova, Jana Kasalová, Inge Kosková, Dagmar Havlíčková, Margita Titlova Ylovsky, Petr Nikl, Tomáš Lampar, Přemysl Martinec, Josef Duchan, Marcela Vorlíčková, Alžběta Krňanská, Taja Spasská, Jan Hísko and Jiří Kornatovský.

The curator of the exhibition, Terezie Zemánková, will guide viewers through the commented tour.

Wed 21 2 2024 / 18:00 Open Studio: Johanna Silbermann

Did you know that the Telegraph hides a studio and apartment in its secret recesses?
Traditionally, we invite Czech and international artists to come to Olomouc for a residency during which they work on their works. For a few weeks or months they change their surroundings and often get inspired by the city, nature and the people they meet during the residency.

For the first two months of 2024, the studio belongs to the German artist Johanna Silbermann, who will show her latest works on the occasion of Open Studio.
