We've had enough of Lockdown and closed galleries! Starting in June 2021, we are preparing a long-term educational programme for primary school pupils, primary school students and students of secondary schools and colleges focused on individual exhibitions.
We will open the gallery not only to adults, but also to children and the younger generation. We would therefore like to introduce our educational tour plan for primary and secondary schools. We have been preparing and thinking about everything and we are looking forward to meeting you. Why, you ask? Simply because we are aware of the fundamental importance of gallery and museum pedagogy in conveying art and deepening children's interest in the arts from the earliest age. Activation programmes can make information from exhibitions more accessible to children in a more understandable way, appropriate to the age differences of visitors and can multiply the emotional experience of the exhibition. This is exactly what we are trying to do.
Our last experiential program for Pavel Korbička's light exhibition, Space of Perception, was very popular. The exhibition opened with an opening reception on Thursday 9 December and has since had above average attendance. The first animation took place the day after the opening. The gallery was visited by pupils of the 8th grade of the Svatoplukova Primary School in Olomouc. The pupils and teachers liked the exhibition so much that they ended up spending much more time with us than they had originally planned. The pupils got acquainted with Pavel Korbička's work as well as with concepts such as installation, site-specific or light art. They experienced the installation, so to speak, first-hand, and in the end they were very interested in the technique of long-form photography, which they tried out for themselves. However, the exhibition was also popular with the youngest pupils - first and second graders from the Drahanovice Primary School created interesting paintings in which they used information about colour theory. In addition, they spent a pleasant time in our cinema, where they watched the Japanese animated film My Neighbor Totoro.
As one of the few institutions in the Czech Republic, we offer schools the opportunity to get a closer look at the artist's work in the Open Studio, a unique event that the Telegraph hosts regularly at the end of each artist's residency (current residents are Veronika Gabrielová and Laura Limbourg). And you'll be the first to admit it, when else can you meet the artists "live" and be one of the first to see their latest works. ... All this and much more we are preparing, preparing and organizing for you.
At the end of February you can look forward to the opening of Jan Poupěte's exhibition: Neuralscape, followed by an exhibition by Marek Thera, a leading Czech artist working with video and winner of the 2011 Jindřich Chalupecký Prize. The accompanying programmes for these exhibitions and the offer of other events not only in the gallery but also in the Telegraph cinema will be gradually published on our website, so you will definitely not miss anything.
