What's coming up in January at the Telegraph Gallery?
If you visit the Telegraph Gallery regularly, you will know that our programme goes beyond the gallery space. In addition to long-running exhibitions, there are pop-up exhibitions in the cinema and loft throughout the year, as well as residencies by Czech and international artists, always ending with an Open Studio in their studio. You can also look forward to lecture series focusing on the work of contemporary artists, the work of curators, and on the collecting of contemporary art with collectors, gallerists and curators.
We enter the new year with our current exhibition Behind the Counter, which will be on view until 19 2 2026.

Adéla Janská has long been concerned with female figures and themes of identity. The subjects for her nudes and portraits are porcelain dolls, whose features symbolize ideals of female beauty unattainable in real life. Paulina Olowska combines painting, collage and other media in her work, drawing on the history of 20th century art, design and visual culture. Her work borrows imagery from Eastern European and American pop culture and disrupts traditional notions of femininity in an international cultural context. Caroline Walker explores figurative painting of women in everyday and work situations and the relationship of the figure to space. She tells women's stories through sites ranging from luxury beauty salons, to portraits of asylum seekers, to scenes of anonymous working women against the backdrop of London architecture.
Loosely inspired by the television phenomenon Woman Behind the Counter, their collaborative exhibition focuses on diverse interpretations of femininity and traces the real and symbolic presence of women in public space. Through a historical lens, it looks at archetypal female figures of socialist modernism and the period of Czechoslovak normalization.
