G&T tasting with Jiří Richter

Gin-Tonic, at the same time one of the most popular mixed drinks. You can come to the Telegraph Cafe to taste both the gins themselves and the cocktails mixed from them.

You'll be guided through the tasting by Jiri Richter, who likes to claim he's an eternal child, despite having matured into a middle-aged man. He gained his work experience in establishments such as Café~Café, Cocktail & Music Bar Nebe and Club Epic, where he worked as head bartender.

At the beginning of his bartending career, he wanted to be like Violet from the movie Wildcats. Today, he tries to see his role models as inspiration and driving force. In 2021, he became a gin ambassador for Pernod RIcard in the country, which has brands like Beefeater, Plymouth and Monkey 47 in its portfolio, where he remains today.

He enjoys classic drinks such as the White Lady and Negroni.

Jeník Vondrka, whom you may have met at the Italian sparkling wine tasting in January, will be Jiří's chef.

Jeník began his bartending career in college, when he stood behind the bar of one of Olomouc's oldest bars, Osa. The job eventually turned into a passion that has lasted almost a decade. During that time, he has tried various establishments including discos and cafes.

Mostly, though, he recalls his early days at the Axis, where he first picked up a shaker, and his four-year stint at 47 Monkeys, a bar that focused on gin & tonics and gin cocktails. Today, he is in his third year at Entrée. He can also be seen occasionally running around in a daze at the Telegraph Café planning new tastings.

He never turns down a glass of gin or a classic Gin & Tonic.

The tasting will, of course, be complemented by tapas from the Telegraph Cafe kitchen.
