Paris, the turbulent 1920s. Choreographer Ida Rubinstein chooses Maurice Ravel to compose the music for her next ballet. She wants something bold, sensual. Ravel, who is a well-known and established name, finds himself unable to write anything at all. As he relives memories, confronts old loves and failures, the composer breathes life into his greatest achievement ever: the piece "Bolero."
