The exhibition runs from 10:00 to 18:30 as part of the TELEGRAPH FILM FESTIVAL 2023
Can you look into the eyes of those whose homes have been destroyed and displaced by war?
The short, Czech-Ukrainian film Fresh Memories: the Look transports viewers through virtual reality to bombed-out Kharkiv. Here they come face to face with locals affected by the war.
The focus of Fresh Memories: the Look is the stories of ordinary people affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Kharkiv is one of the most war-affected cities in all of Ukraine. The film transports the viewer to its ruins, to a playground, to a hospital, to a ruined apartment, where the locals stare longingly into his eyes. The similarity with the performance The Artist Is Present by world-renowned conceptual artist Marina Abramović is not accidental. By looking the viewer in the eye, the actors convey strong emotions. The experience is further enhanced by the fact that everything happens without words, with only the authentic sounds of hospital machines or children playing in the playground, even though there are only ruins all around.
The film was directed by Ondřej Moravec and Volodymyr Kolbasa and produced by the creative studio Brainz Immersive.
