The story of John Davidson ( Robert Aramayo ), whose life is irrevocably changed at the age of fifteen after the sudden onset of Tourette syndrome. In 1983, when the disease was still little known, he develops uncontrollable vocal and physical tics. He feels like an outcast and gradually resorts to shame and loneliness. But many years later, things begin to change when he meets Dottie ( Maxine Peake ), the energetic mother of a former classmate who has just been diagnosed with terminal cancer. An unexpected relationship develops between them, thanks to which John finds inner strength and meaning in life. Thanks to this relationship, his shame and isolation turn into strength, he also finds joy and the ability to often humorously use his disability to educate and understand. Perhaps even the Queen of England will notice.

The film was based on a true story.
