The story of John Davidson (Robert Aramayo), whose life is irrevocably changed at the age of 15 after a sudden outbreak of Tourette's syndrome. In 1983, when the disease was still little known, he develops uncontrollable vocal and physical tics. He feels like an outcast and gradually retreats into shame and loneliness. But after many years, that begins to change when he meets Dottie (Maxine Peake), the energetic mother of a former classmate who has just found out she has terminal cancer. The two form an unexpected relationship that leads John to find inner strength and purpose. Through this relationship, his shame and isolation are transformed into strength, he also finds joy and the ability to use his disability, often humorously, to enlighten and understand. Perhaps even the British Queen will take notice.
The film was based on a true story.
