What's coming up in September at the Telegraph Gallery?
If you visit the Telegraph Gallery regularly, you will know that our programme goes beyond the gallery space. In addition to long-running exhibitions, there are pop-up exhibitions in the cinema and loft throughout the year, as well as residencies by Czech and international artists, always ending with an Open Studio in their studio. You can also look forward to lecture series focusing on the work of contemporary artists, the work of curators, and contemporary art collecting with collectors, gallerists and curators.
September, the start of the school year for students, but for all visitors to the Telegraph Gallery, another load of events not to be missed!
17 6 - 6 11 I Wish I Was Made of Stone: Lucia Tallová
Although summer is over, the doors to Slovakian artist Lucia Tallová's exhibition are still open. In her work she works with objects, their memories and memory. Thanks to her sensitive authorial approach, she is able to discover and develop remarkable relationships between shapes, materials and her own artistic interpretation. The result of her work is a body of work that acts as a personal archaeological exploration from which subtle, multi-layered compositions emerge.
The only change to this exhibition is its dates – we have extended it until November 6!
10 Sep 2025 / 19:00 European Heritage Days: Adéla Babanová - Return to Adriaport
September brings European Heritage Days, in which Telegraph is involved. The aim of these days is to search for ways to the roots of our European and global civilization.
Artist Adéla Babanová, one of the most prominent authors of moving images, explores in her staged films the tension between reality and fiction, personal and collective memory, and the possibilities of manipulating historical narratives. The fictional documentary Return to Adriaport (2014) is a typical example of her work, based on a real but unrealized plan to connect Czechoslovakia with the Adriatic Sea via a tunnel.
14 9 / 10:00 European Heritage Days: Tour of The Telegraph Building
In addition to Adéla Babanová's accompanying short film, you can also look forward to Sunday guided tours of the building, where you can learn more about its history and various details and curiosities. Who are the glowing heads on the building depicting? Who created the current mural? What was the Telegraph building used for in the past?
There will also be a voluntary admission fee to the gallery this weekend, so don't miss it!
17 9 2025 / 18:00 Collecting Contemporary Art: Barbora Vanická Čápová
The next in our lecture series, Collecting Contemporary Art, will be led by the theoretician and curator Barbora Vanicka Čápová, who will attempt to place the phenomenon of collecting in the broader framework of the online space. The online purchase of artworks, its potential and its pitfalls will be outlined. Digital environment and art will be the topic of the day.
24 9 2025 / 18:00 Guided tour with catalog launch: Lucia Tallová
At the end of the month, our current exhibition Lucia Tallová: I Wish I Was Made of Stone will finally have its own catalog. We will launch it together before a guided tour with Lucie Tallová and exhibition curator Jan Kudrna. This event will be the icing on the cake of September at the Telegraph Gallery.
The first month of the school year may not be so bad. We look forward to seeing you!
