The exhibition Heart in Pliers takes as its starting point concepts such as home, memory and return with their specific manifestations in the work of visual artist and performer Václav Stratil. The exhibition will present drawing and photographic works from 2003-2019, in which the artist escalates the links between personal memory and his artistic history. The emphasis is on the contemporary conditions that are re-establishing this discourse of memory, but also on the theme of the artist's "late work", a euphemism usually intended to hide the bare truth that this is the work of an old artist. With this exhibition, Olomouc is getting back its "lost son" with all the "vertical nostalgia" that a mouldy old man who spends most of his time lying in bed is capable of.
