Rick (Paul Rudd), the frontman of a wedding band, meets a fading pop star, Danny (Nick Jonas), at a gig. They are connected by a spontaneous night of jamming and a song that unexpectedly becomes a worldwide hit a few months later. While Danny's career is relaunched and he reaps all the fame, Rick remains on the sidelines and begins to fight for the recognition he believes is his. But in his quest to reclaim his place in the spotlight, he risks the most precious thing he has: his relationships with family and friends.
