František Všetička is a literary historian and theoretician who teaches at the Faculty of Education at Palacký University.He is also a scout and a great lover of nature. From 1994 to 2004 he was on the editorial board of the journal Alternativa nova, he is also a member of the scientific board of the journal The Peculiarity of Man, etc. In addition to his professional activities, he writes poems, feuilletons and, more recently, epic prose. He is the recipient of the Leopold Vrla Award, in 2016 he received the Olomouc City Award for his contribution to culture and in 2018 the Miroslav Švandrlík Award for his novel Kuděj aneb krása couáž, which he will discuss in more detail during his presentation.

In the framework of the author's reading, the associate professor will present both his literary and theoretical work and his fiction. From the fiction he will then present his prose, poetry and translations (he translates mainly contemporary Polish poets). He will also focus on a couple of his latest novels - Kuděj or The Beauty of Courage and Ring the Bells. He will also read a small excerpt from one of them. The aim of this presentation is to show the close connection between literary research and fiction writing.
