Viktor Orbán, Robert Fico and European "unity in diversity" - Pavlína Janebová

cinema lecture

Diversity is one of the key strengths of the European Union, but it is also a challenge. Finding compromise between member states is fundamental to its functioning, but what if differences in the domestic and foreign policies of some governments undermine the effectiveness, prosperity, and security of the Union as a whole? What risks does this pose for the EU and the Czech Republic? Why should we pay attention to them? What tools does the EU have to deal with these situations - and are they sufficient? Debate after the lecture is welcome.

Pavlina Janebová is the Director of Research at AMO (Association for International Affairs). She specializes in Czech foreign and European policy and relations between Central European countries. She holds a Master's degree in European Studies from the Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University, where she is pursuing her PhD in International Relations and European Politics. She has been working at AMO since the beginning of 2018.

The lecture is organised in collaboration between the Telegraph, the Association for International Affairs (AMO) and ZEK.
