The 12th edition of the Future Gate festival will take place in Prague, Brno, Hradec Králové, Plzeň, Olomouc, Hodonín and Šumperk. You can look forward to a competition of new films, a competition of student films, legends of the genre, short films and a documentary section. It's going to be big, it's going to be unforgettable.
This year's theme will be The Human Body. Expect to see themes of cybernetic enhancement, genetic modification and the involvement of artificial intelligence. What does it mean to be human? If we can enhance our physical abilities or even replace body parts with technology, aren't we losing something essential of our humanity? Is our body merely a tool that we can change at will, or does it have an inherent value and identity that we should respect? Future Gate 2025 will again look to the movies for inspiration.
The story is set in the near future. The reclusive and boorish Andriy Melnyk transports nuclear waste on a spaceship to one of the moons of the planet Jupiter. His only company is the on-board computer Maxim. During one of the routine flights, the Earth explodes for unknown reasons and he is the only survivor. He tries unsuccessfully to find other survivors until he receives an unexpected call from Catherine at the French space station. Andrij decides to find her against all odds, but there's a catch.
