TEFF24
SPECIAL EDITION - Ghost in the Shell

11 10 2024 / 22:00
cinema TEFF movie festival

Within the festival we want to present not only the architecture of the past and present, but also a glimpse into the future. An example of such a glimpse is the 1995 anime film Ghost in the Shell, which depicts an anti-utopian future Japan where humans are struggling with new technologies such as artificial intelligence. Thanks to advanced technology, everyone has implants that make their lives easier. However, they also enable brain hacking and other crimes directly related to it. Who is behind all this, and how are their actions malicious? Find out in the cyberpunk film Ghost in the Shell, which was adapted from Masamune Shiro's manga from the late 1980s.

Masamori Ota (*1961), better known by his literary name Masamune Shiro, is a Japanese mangaka best known for his manga Ghost in the Shell, which was subsequently adapted into anime films, television series, a feature film, and several video games. He is also a key figure in the development of the cyberpunk aesthetic. His other credits include Appleseed Saga: Ex Machina (2007), and Kókaku kidótai: Stand Alone Complex (2002)
