Science in Film is a series of film screenings accompanied by an educational lecture. In cooperation with the UP Crowd, we are popularizing various scientific disciplines through film.
In the winter of 1952, British police received a report of a break-in at the home of mathematics professor and cryptanalyst Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch). Instead of the perpetrator of this crime, however, Turing himself was taken away in handcuffs, accused of sexual misconduct and facing a devastating trial. Almost no one involved knew that he was a war hero who had worked with his team to crack the code of the legendary German Enigma cipher machine. The Imitation Game tells the story of the mathematical genius whose amazing talent helped shorten World War II and save thousands of lives.
