Seth Brundle is a young, ambitious scientist who is working on teleporting people from a distance using so-called telepods. Like a good scientist, he tests his discoveries on himself. Everything is going well until only one little thing escapes his attention: a fly gets into the telepod with him and in the process of teleportation the DNA of both participants in the experiment gets mixed. And so begins the slow process of Seth's transformation into a fly. Seth searches hard for the antidote, but will he have enough time?
