Slovak artist Samuel Kollárik is in residence at the Telegraph during September and October and will present his work at the opening of Open Studio in the studio.

 

Samuel Kollárik (*1992, Bojnice, Slovakia) has been systematically painting, drawing and printmaking since high school. He started his studies at the School of Applied Arts in Kremnica. Subsequently, he continued his studies at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava in the studio of free graphics and then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the studio of Painting IV. Martin Mainer. He graduated from AVU in 2021 in the studio of Painting IV under the guidance of Marek Meduna and Petr Dub. In the same year he won second place in the Slovak competition Painting of the Year of the VUB Bank Foundation. As part of his studies, he spent time abroad at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and Stockholm. His work has long focused on exploring the phenomenon of male identity and masculinity, their traditions and ways of depiction.
