Slovenian artist Ivana Bajec is in residence at Telegraph during september and october and will present her works at the Open Studio.

Ivana Bajec (*1990) is a Slovenian visual artist who combines drawing, graphics and painting in her work. She completed her bachelor's and master's degrees in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. She has presented her work at a number of solo and group exhibitions in Europe. Her approach is characterized by a passion for improvisation, experimentation and visual playfulness. Her canvases function as distinctive diary entries, in which abstract morphology meets whimsical figuration. This immediate and sometimes provocative style has a strongly confessional character and responds to the feelings and challenges of modern times with ease and a distinctive wit. Although Bajec does not directly comment on specific events in her works, her work sensitively reflects the mental and emotional state of a generation growing up in permanent uncertainty. By following the news, media and internet culture, she captures the alienation and intimacy of modern life. Typical summer pastel colors and the presence of recognizable visual symbols of the digital world give her paintings an immediacy and dynamism that creatively reflect contemporary culture. Ivana Bajec's work skillfully balances the line between social criticism and a purely personal statement. Instead of succumbing to contemporary despondency, her works offer a liberating perspective and acceptance of the spontaneous joy of life.
