Space of perception: the Dernissage

gallery art tour

Start: 18:00

On Sunday, February 13, the exhibition Space of Perception by Paul Korbička ends. Therefore, we have decided to offer visitors a last guided tour.

Pavel Korbička (*1972) deals with light, space, movement and sound in his work. He works with specific places in which he responds to their uniqueness and hidden orders, which he tries to activate by the presence of the viewer and his individual perception. His artistic activity is on the borderline between sculpture, architecture and scientific research.

Korbička graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (Studio of Sculpture-Space-Installation, prof. Stanislav Kolíbal, Studio of Conceptual Tendencies, prof. Miloš Šejn). Since 1998, he has been teaching at the Sculpture Studio 2 at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno.

In the exhibition at the Telegraf Gallery, he presented a site-specific light installation made of polycarbonate plates, into which the viewer can enter and, thanks to optical light phenomena and binocular vision, experience states of his own physical imbalance, as a result of which a deeper self-awareness can occur.

Warning: the exhibition may be inappropriate for people with mental or neurological illness, for whom the distinctive light objects may cause discomfort or seizure.
