Doctor from Lake Victoria - Today's Uganda

cinema travelogue lecture

Uganda - for many people it is symbolised by mountain gorillas, the Rwenzori Mountains or the Murchison falls National Park. To a haematologist, Uganda is a country where 25,000 babies are born with sickle cell anaemia every year, most of whom, without care, die within 5 years of life. You don't know what sickle cell anaemia is? How does it manifest itself? And what do mosquitoes have to do with it if it's a congenital disease? We are happy to show you both faces of Uganda.

A story about the country we have traveled across, the people, the animals of the main national parks, and also about our medical project in a rural area of Uganda where almost half of our patients live below the poverty line and where specialized medical care is truly saving lives.
