Twelve-year-old gymnast Tinja is desperate to please her family-image-obsessed mother, whose popular blog "Everyday Beauty" presents their family's idyllic existence as suburban perfection. One day, Tinja finds an injured bird in the woods, brings its strange egg home, puts it in her bed, and cares for it until it hatches. The creature that hatches from it becomes her closest friend and a living nightmare, plunging Tinja, living under a perfect shell, into a twisted reality her mother refuses to see. ONO is a fascinating portrait of the essence of maternal instinct, as Tinja struggles to come to terms with her genuine emotional attachment to her grotesque and bloodthirsty newfound family, while grappling with her crumbling relationship with her own demanding mother.
