How do monuments and memorials justify war, violence and crimes? How do they shape our collective consciousness and values? What has the erection of monuments ever given to humanity? These are not the only questions addressed in Monumentomania, a philosophical documentary by Vitya Vilisov, a young journalist who has devoted several years to independent research on the subject. His other works include HOW LONG IS THE WAR, about the impact of war on our society and human identity, and the performance IL GRANDE DOLORE / great grief, which, as the title suggests, deals with grieving during wartime.
Vitya Vilisov is an independent researcher, journalist, curator and producer of cross-genre projects. He also focuses on XR/AR, which we could collectively refer to as augmented or augmented reality, and applies these methods to his digital works. Cross-genre was mentioned for a reason - Vilisov is also the author of two essay books, After Love. The Future of Human Intimacy" and "We're All Fed Up. How theatre became modern and we didn't notice". He has also taught at Part Academy and KARO Art Cinema.
