In the Contemporary Art Collecting lecture series you will learn from successful and emerging collectors or curators and experts in contemporary art investment what impulses led them to become interested in the contemporary art market. They will reveal how they build or help build their collections, and what their criteria are for selecting specific works. The lecture series is aimed at the complete layman with an interest in art, as well as collectors who are puzzling over how to evaluate their collection or create a remarkable and unique collection.
The lecture will be given by gallerists Zuzana and Pavol Weiss.
Zuzana and Pavol Weiss are long-time collectors of contemporary art and founders of the White & Weiss Gallery in Bratislava. Their shared journey with art began with collecting contemporary art in the second half of the 1990s and culminated in 2008 with the founding of an auction company, which was purposefully transformed into a gallery space in 2016. Zuzana Weiss has a professional background in marketing and has held management positions in large corporations. Pavol Weiss is a writer and playwright whose interest in art is intertwined with his literary work.
White & Weiss Gallery focuses on presenting contemporary visual art, primarily by established artists from Slovakia and the Czech Republic. In its programme, however, it also regularly gives space to young talents who bring a new perspective and energy to the current art scene. In addition to their exhibition activities, the Weisses are active in building their own collection and have long contributed to shaping cultural discourse.
Programme subject to change.
