The best of Czech student film in one evening.

One evening and four contemporary short films by young filmmakers from three of the best film schools in the Czech Republic. Two representatives from Zlín and one each from Prague and Písek. Among them, the current nominee for the Czech Lion, the Czech Film Critics Award and the winner of the student Oscar.

GAME TO PLAY (HRA NA HRU)

The film tells the story of Karolína and Sebastian's empty relationship and they try to fill it with games. On a moving train, they lose their tickets and compete to see who can stay longer. They manipulate the other passengers until Caroline realizes she doesn't want to stay in an empty relationship or in heated company. She voluntarily gets off the train.

Six-year-old Viktorka tries to understand the complex relationships in her family. At the same time, she prepares for the birth of her sibling and the first day of school. Her optimism, playfulness and imagination help her overcome all the challenges. The child's perspective, from which every day is full of small miracles, is also held by the camera.

CABIN (CHATA)

The film follows the character of Stázka, a 20-year-old girl who arrives at a chalet in the mountains to celebrate the beginning of the New Year with her former classmates. She hopes that getting away from civilization and the signal will make her not think about her own mental instability and that she will find a safe space to share again among her friends and her ex-boyfriend Matěj. But the cramped confinement of the cabin accumulates all the negative emotions in addition to the warmth of the good old days, and Stázka's inner disconnection from the group is hard to hide. The only one who seems to be in the same position is Matěj's new girlfriend, Marie, and Stázka gives her the support she needs despite her own problems.

FELLOW COUNTRYMAN (KRAJAN)

On New Year's Eve 1944, two men - widower Petr Bernát and SS officer Konrad Neumann - meet in a cottage cut off from civilization amidst a snowstorm. The only thing the two men have in common is their Sudeten origins. At first, their conversation revolves around mundane topics, but as midnight approaches, they begin to address more pressing issues. A tragic past is revealed, and it becomes clear that tonight will be a fateful night for Bernat and Neumann.
