The story follows the conflict between the girl San, raised by wolves, and the ruler of the Iron City, Mrs. Eboshi, who destroys the adjacent forest in order to provide sustenance for her subjects. Into this feud enters Prince Ashitaka, stricken by the deadly curse of anger. It leads him to the forest where San lives. The young man attempts to bring the two sides to reconciliation, but can this ever be achieved? Unsubversively spectacular, Hayao Miyazaki's film, now regarded as one of the masterpieces of not only Japanese cinema, tells of the need not to be taken in by anger and blindness.
