After the turbulent times of the Thirty Years' War, a mysterious soldier appears in a remote German village, claiming to be the heir to long-abandoned lands. His efforts to gain acceptance are complicated by suspicious villagers and a secret: he has arrived in the village under a foreign identity, posing as the opposite sex.
