Two neighbouring clans and two different approaches to life. What happens when the love of their own children interferes with the strained relationships of two domineering fathers? While Josef forces his family into a peculiar way of life on an island of vegetation among Viktor's monocultural meadows, Míra is in love with Josef's daughter Žofka. To win her affection, he must fight with his father. His son's rebellion puts Viktor in a new situation. Even Josef, disillusioned by the consequences of his own life attitudes, has the opportunity to reconsider many things. Hope for healing in the field of interpersonal relationships and arid landscapes is brought into the lives of several of the characters by a landmark event.
