Ahmet has two tasks in his life - to look after his younger brother, who has lost his speech after his mother's death, and to look after the flock of sheep, on which his strict father hangs more than on his children. Life in the Macedonian countryside is certainly no honey. Patriarchal and religious traditions rule with a firm hand. Marriages are arranged, social hierarchies are entrenched. The younger generation may rebel, but only out of their parents' sight. But progress is slowly finding its way. And when Ahmet accidentally stumbles into an illegal rave party, he loses his sheep, finds love, and gains a new meaning in life, one he will have to fight hard for with those around him. The debut feature from Prague FAMU graduate Georgi M. Unkovsky DJ Ahmet is a joyous, energetic celebration of coming of age and an honest reminder that being single sometimes means boldly breaking from the herd, no matter the consequences.
