In the aftermath of World War II, Josef Mengele, a Nazi doctor from Auschwitz, flees to South America to start a new life in seclusion. Through the prism of his son, who tracks him down, Mengele is confronted with a past he can no longer ignore. From Buenos Aires, across Brazil, to Paraguay, the man who has become known as the "Angel of Death" methodically constructs his own disappearance from the face of the earth over this vast expanse of land in order to avoid any judgment.
