Documentary about the arrival of Czechs to the Romanian Banat and their current life. It is a story of courage, faith and hope.
The Czech Heart of Banat is not just a film about compatriots. It is also a deep reflection on what it means to be Czech, even if you live hundreds of kilometres from home. It presents a picture of a community that, even after two centuries, preserves its language, customs and relationship to Czech culture in an incredibly pure, unadulterated form. This documentary is seen as a thank you to the countrymen and a gift to mark the 200th anniversary of the villages. The film is accompanied by beautiful visual images of the villages of the Czech Banat, unspoilt nature and very sweet and heartfelt stories. It sensitively shows the origins and formation of the Czech community in this Romanian region, while at the same time giving the audience a very real insight into the development that the Banat is currently going through.
