Are you interested in art? Would you like to learn more about the contemporary scene?
This lecture series featuring artists and curators offers a unique opportunity to look behind the scenes of the art world, talk directly with the creators about their work, and enjoy an evening in a welcoming atmosphere. There are no limits to the creativity of your questions, because artworks come to life through the attention and curiosity of their audience.

As part of this series dedicated to the presentation of contemporary artists and curators, we will introduce Tomáš Ruller, one of the artists who participated in the recently concluded exhibition Signal IV: The Eighties.

Tomáš Ruller (1957, Brno) is a Czech action artist, performer, and educator. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in 1982 in the sculpture studio, and since the 1970s he has explored a wide range of artistic forms, including sculpture, installation, painting, and multimedia. His work merges classical techniques with contemporary modes of expression, crossing traditional boundaries between artistic disciplines. Ruller's practice combines conceptual depth rooted in philosophical and spiritual contexts with strong physicality, expressiveness, and dramatic presence.
During his studies, he took part in various events and exhibitions of the unofficial art scene, such as the Chmelnice Symposium, which, although officially permitted, was under constant threat of intervention by state authorities.
He is a co-founder of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Brno University of Technology, where he served as head of the Performance Studio and later as dean.
