The 12th edition of the Future Gate festival will take place in Prague, Brno, Hradec Králové, Plzeň, Olomouc, Hodonín and Šumperk. You can look forward to a competition of new films, a competition of student films, legends of the genre, short films and a documentary section. It's going to be big, it's going to be unforgettable.
This year's theme will be The Human Body. Expect to see themes of cybernetic enhancement, genetic modification and the involvement of artificial intelligence. What does it mean to be human? If we can enhance our physical abilities or even replace body parts with technology, aren't we losing something essential of our humanity? Is our body merely a tool that we can change at will, or does it have an inherent value and identity that we should respect? Future Gate 2025 will once again look to the movies for inspiration.
Officer Ripley, the sole survivor of a life-and-death struggle in the Nostromo cargo ship with a space alien, is found by a rescue ship several years later and returned to Earth. Just when it seems to be over, the horror begins again, this time on a distant, recently colonized planet. This time it's not all against one, but Ripley and a group of specially trained soldiers against the aliens' thousand-headed killing force.
