The 12th edition of the Future Gate festival will take place in Prague, Brno, Hradec Králové, Plzeň, Olomouc, Hodonín and Šumperk. You can look forward to a competition of new films, a competition of student films, legends of the genre, short films and a documentary section. It's going to be big, it's going to be unforgettable.
This year's theme will be The Human Body. Expect to see themes of cybernetic enhancement, genetic modification and the involvement of artificial intelligence. What does it mean to be human? If we can enhance our physical abilities or even replace body parts with technology, aren't we losing something essential of our humanity? Is our body merely a tool that we can change at will, or does it have an inherent value and identity that we should respect? Future Gate 2025 will once again look to the movies for inspiration.
Officer Ripley is the sole survivor of her damaged spaceship's emergency landing on the planet Fiorina 161. It is a desolate waste dump inhabited by people who have been condemned by society. She encounters murderers and criminals, the inhabitants of a former high-security prison. Ripley suspects that there was an Alien on board her ship. Her premonition is soon confirmed when the number of deaths suddenly increases and more and more mutilated bodies are found. Without weapons or modern technology, Ripley joins forces with the prisoners to fight the ruthless monster. However, she soon discovers that she is also carrying one of them inside her. To destroy the Alien once and for all, she must kill herself.
