Do you like art that doesn't take itself too seriously?
Almost all day you will be able to be photographed by Danish artist Søren Dahlgaard in the Telegraph as part of his Dough Portraits series. This series is an original photography project of people, with yeast dough as the basic material. When creating the portraits, the artist covers the faces of his models with a mass of dough. The combination of the absurd element of dough, the grotesque and the partial anonymity of the person creates a unique type of portrait. It opens up questions related to identity, focusing on the person's gestures and body expressions instead of the face.
Some of the portraits created during the day will be part of Søren Dahlgaard and Jakub Janovsky's upcoming exhibition at the Telegraph Gallery in 2025. Don't miss the opportunity to join in the playful art project and become part of the exhibition.
Søren Dahlgaard (*1973) is a Danish conceptual artist based in Copenhagen. He studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in London and the Victorian College of the Arts at the University of Melbourne, Australia. His artistic practice often involves playful participation, creative collaboration and engagement, which he interweaves with unconventional humour. However, he also works with more serious global themes, for example in his work Inflatable Island, which uses play and symbolism to highlight the climate crisis. As well as Inflatable Island, which has been exhibited around the world, Dahlgaard's project Dough Portraits features portraits of people from different parts of the world. Søren Dahlgaard's work has been exhibited around the world, including at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark, Tate Modern in London and MoMA in New York.
