Gábor Pintér at the Telegraph Gallery residency

24 9 2021

Residency Program Telegraph Gallery welcomed another artist. It is Hungarian painter Gábor Pintér, who will be working with us until the end of October.

Gábor Pintér (1983) is one of the representatives of the so-called "bad painting". In his work, he does not only paint, but also works with paper and spatial installations. In his paintings he works with genre motifs that often reflect absurd situations, which Gábor helps to achieve by merging real and surreal scenes. The concept of his paintings is often a response to his own critical reflections on today's consumer society. In addition, he reflects on the workings of the mind and the process of cognition as such. He thus explores the nature of psychological and mental reality and its relationship to the real world. His painterly expression is characterised by vivid colour and strong gestural brushstrokes. Gábor graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts and lives and works in Budapest.
