Whether you're going freelance, starting your own business or want to be a useful asset to your team, we've got five more useful business tips from life for you. From the most knowledgeable → successful Olomouc managers and entrepreneurs.

Matěj Smětal

#6 "For me, it's important to do what I enjoy and find fulfilling. When it's done properly and with love, success is almost inevitable and it's only a matter of time after that. So my advice is to find something that you enjoy, are good at, makes you a living and best of all helps your environment or even the world. The Japanese have a word for this phenomenon called Ikigai."

  • Matěj Smětal, business developer Smětal Silack

Petra Pohořská

#7 "First of all, getting to know myself, finding out if the focus/subject of the business I'm starting is my passion. It will take a lot of passion for the cause. Entrepreneurship is about automatically and without any doubt sacrificing almost all my time and dedicating it to the business and activities related to it. Work hard, and work long term! Because time will test whether our passion is genuine. To do all this, one has to have a lot of courage, step out of the comfort zone and go all out. Despite the initial setbacks, don't give up, persevere and if you find just one customer, with exaggeration, you already have a sale."

  • Petra Pohorská, co-owner of ABO valve

Petr Novák

#8 "My motto in life is that you become successful the moment you set a meaningful goal. It is important to know what I want to do, what I enjoy, where I want to go and what I want to achieve. Both in my personal and professional life. Then, gradually move closer to the goal, even if it's in small steps. Take advantage of opportunities, believe in yourself and think positively. Have respect for others. These rules have worked well for me and I like to pass them on to others."

  • Petr Novák, Managing Director of Koyo Bearings Česká Republika s.r.o.

Marek Vávra

#9 "A person needs to have a goal or, if you will, a vision in front of them at all times. Something that will get him out of bed in the morning with an appetite for more work. Ideally, a goal that has "soul and heart" and that grows over time with the one trying to achieve it. And then there is the need for perseverance, because every setback, every knockdown is something to learn from, but you need to bounce back from them and keep going towards your goal."

  • Marek Vávra, CEO Altair Software

Ladislav Brázdil

#10 "For people starting out in their careers, my advice is to be clear about what they enjoy in the first place. To be successful, you need to go the extra mile, put in more hours, be more persistent than others, keep trying and keep looking for a solution until you figure it out. In short, bite down and don't let go. And that's much better done in an area of strong interest."

  • Ladislav Brázdil, Managing Director of ZLKL, s.r.o.
